Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears. Well, erm, eyes.
In this day in age, physical newspapers and magazines are becoming a thing of the past. Given Talkin' Sports' demographic, I am sure many of you are well aware of this shift into new media. I can't speak for all regions, by the newspapers around Manhattan and Long Island (the New York Times, Newsday, Daily News, New York Post, etc.) all now have blogs on their website for at least their sports writers.
While The Talker was never on actual paper, this move to the world of blogging allows for some of the advantages for this new media to come into play. The main advantage is the ability to write on breaking news and have it published immediately. Think back to those newspapers. They release an issue daily, yet there are breaking events throughout the day that require them to be able to publish more frequently than that.
Previously, we had been publishing The Talker monthly. By the time a new issue was out, most of these "new" articles were already very outdated. Some over a month old. Needless to say, this is an issue that needed to be addressed.
So here we are, on April Fools Day 2008, officially christening this version of The Talker. Writers are listed on the right, and they can consider this introduction as an invitation to begin writing immediately.
Until next time,
Nyi28nhl, GEO, and the rest of The Talker Team
